STX Europe St.Naiziere wurde Mitte des 19.Jahrhunderts als Chantiers de l’Atlantique gegründet.
Von Beginn an baute die Werft Linienschiffe.
Im Januar 2006 wurde die Werft an die Aker Yards verkauft, die wiederum von STX übernommen worden sind.
STX Europe ist quasi die Heimatwerft von MSC, den deren Schiffe sind bisher dort gebaut worden.
Die STX Europe bauen momentan Passagierschiffe, Gastanker, Fregatten und Forschungsschiffe.
